Complex Examples on Ages 2 1.1

Ayesha’s father was 38 when Ayesha was born.

The line in the diagram shows the father’s age when Ayesha was born.

Draw lines to avoid confusion and solve the question quickly.

Ayesha’s mother was 36 when her brother, four years younger, was born.

The line shows the mother’s age when her brother was born.

From the diagram, it was clear father’s age was 38 + 4 = 42 by the time his brother was born.

Mother was age 36 when Ayesha’s brother was born.

42 – 36 = 6years.

The difference between the parent’s ages is six years.

Always draw the diagram for clarity and ease.

From the diagram, it’s clear father’s age was 28+4 = 32 when my brother was born.

Mother’s age was 26-3 = 23 when her brother was born.

The ages of the father and mother are 32 and 23.
