1) Dividing a decimal fraction by a counting number

Example:

0.0204 / 17

17 is a counting number.

Divide without considering decimals.

204 / 17 = 12

Now place decimal points as many digits as in the dividend after the decimal.

0.0204 has four digits after the decimal point.

We place four digits after decimal in the result.

= 0.0012

2) Dividing decimal fraction by decimal fraction

Example:

0.00066 / 0.11

multiply the dividend and divisor with a suitable number to make the divisor a whole or counting number.

(0.00066 * 100) / (0.11 * 100)

0.066 / 11

Now we will go with our first method, Dividing decimal fractions by counting numbers.

66/11 = 6

three digits after the decimal point in 0.066

We write the result as 0.006.

Example 3:

35 / 0.07

(35 * 100)/ (0.07 * 100)

3500/7 = 500

Example 4:

2.5 / 0.0005

(2.5 * 100000)/ (0.0005 * 10000) = 25000/5

= 5000
