Example 1:

A, B, and C started a business, each investing Rs 20000.

After five months, A withdrew 5000, B withdrew 6000, and C invested Rs 6000 more.

They got a total profit of Rs 69900 at the end of the year. Find the share of each.

Solution:

Ratio of each = 20000*5 + 15000*7: 20000*5 + 14000*7: 20000*5 + 26000*7

= 205: 212: 282

A’s share = 69900 * (205/699) = 20500

B’s share = 69900 * (212/699) = 21200

C’s share = 69900 * (282/699) = 28200

Example 2:

A, B, and C enter into a partnership.

A invests three times as much as B. B invests 2/3rd of what C invests.

At the end of year profit earned is 6600. What is the share of B?

Solution:

Let C’s capital be x.

B’s capital is 2x/3.

A’s capital = 3 * (2x/3) = 2x

Ratio of capitals = 2x: 2x/3: x

= 6: 2: 3

B’s share = (2/11) * 6600 = 1200
