This example is very simple to understand.
We take an example and understand the arithmetic mean given continuous intervals.
Example:
The below table shows the data distribution for the driving time to the office.
They have provided time intervals.
Frequencies show how many persons are going to the office in the time interval provided in the table.
We consider the mid values for the intervals and find the mean given frequencies.
The equation to find the average is (ΣXiFi)/ΣFi.
X’ = (5*3 + 10*15 + 25*6 + 35*4 + 45*2)/(3+10+6+4+2)
X’ = 21.8
