Example:

There are four bus lines between A and B.

Three bus lines between B and C.

How many ways can a man travel?

1) A to C

The man can take four possible ways between A and B

There are three possible ways between B and C.

We have 4 * 3 ways to travel from A to C.

2) Round trip from A to C.

We have 4 * 3 ways to travel from A to C

To move back from C to A, we have 3 * 4 ways.

The round trip will have 4 * 3 * 3 * 4 ways.

3) Round trip travel from A to C. We do not use the bus line more than once.

There are 4 * 3 possible ways to travel from A to C.

We have two possible ways to travel from C to B because we can not use the bus line again.

There are three possible ways to travel from B to A.

Total 4* 3 * 2 * 3 ways to travel.
